Appointment System

As a practice we offer a telephone first triage led service for patients contacting the practice. This allows us to utilise other allied healthcare professionals (i.e. First Contact Physio, pharmacist, social prescriber, minor illness nurse specialist) as their specialised skills often provide more targeted care. All the allied healthcare professionals work to their competences and their utilisation releases appointments with GPs who will deal with more challenging problems. Many patients have their problems resolved as part of a telephone consultation (or video consultation if appropriate) by being given advice or a prescription. If the allied healthcare professional feels it is necessary, they will invite the patient to attend the practice for a face-to-face appointment.

Although most appointments are same day appointments; we do have a limited number of routine telephone consultations that we can offer up to 28 days in advance.

The Patient Support Team will ask you for the purpose of your call so that we can book your call back with the most appropriate clinician.

We have a clinical team who will call you back, or you will be advised how to participate in a video consultation. The clinician may also ask you to send in a photo if they feel that this would aid the consultation. This will be via a secure link that will be sent to you.

Our specialist nurses are experts in minor illnesses, and most can issue a prescription should you require one.

Our specialist physios are experts in the assessment and management of muscular and skeletal pain, and appointments can be booked directly with them.

In some cases the clinician will need to see you and they will make an appointment for you. Please attend at time agreed as we need to ensure that the waiting room allows for social distancing. We are insisting that you wear a face covering and attend on your own unless the patient requires assistance (or is a child). We appreciate your co-operation in this matter.
